Data Center Solutions
Moving a datacenter, or consolidating many data centers into fewer is the most complex project a CIO will ever undertake. In many cases, the business requires that some (and in some cases all) applications remain operational and available during the move. Also, in most cases the IT staff has never been involved in a simlar effort (how often do companies move data centers?).
ETA has extensive experience in planning, engineering and execution of data center moves and consolidations involving a wide variety of technology. We architect solutions for data and application replication maintaining application availability for the duration of the project.
We offer a complete range of services for end-to-end optimization and migration of data centers. We also provide services for discovery, analysis, optimization, virtualization, consolidation, and migration of data centers that can complement client skills and capability.
We provide application infrastructure architecture engineering, move planning and execution which provide end to end oversight and management or integrate with the customer program and project management teams.
Many applications today have been developed over time and have interdependencies that may or may not be well documented. Retireing or upgrading an application where the interdependencies are not known can have disasterous consequences. These assessments analyze the external interfaces to other applications and data sets that the application is dependent on or a dependent on the application.
At ETA we prefer disaster avoidance rather thar disaster recovery. We believe it is a better investment to engineer a solution that allows the applications to remain available even if part of the underlying infrastructure fails. This can be extended even to the point of an entire data center becoming un-available. We have extensive experience engineering solutions that deliver "graceful degradation" vs. an outage. This allows full use of all physical assetts without any "recovery" equipment being idle, and only reduced performance is experienced when something fails.
